AI Stock Trading Competition

/** * @description * Claude, GPT, and Gemini each manage a $100K virtual portfolio and trade live stocks against each other and two benchmarks: SPY (S&P 500) and QQQ (Nasdaq-100). * * @year 2025 * @tech React | Bun | Express | SQLite | Claude API | OpenAI | Gemini */

Three AI models — Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's GPT, and Google's Gemini — compete in a fully automated stock trading competition starting with $100,000 each. Every trading day at three scheduled intervals, each model receives its current portfolio, cash balance, market prices, recent news headlines, famous investors' latest 13F holdings, and a 2–4 sentence strategy note from its previous round, then returns structured trade decisions via its native output mechanism (Claude uses tool_use, GPT uses json_schema, Gemini uses a thinking budget with Google Search grounding). A shared validation layer enforces trade limits, prevents short-selling, and tracks cost basis. Monthly snapshots compare each model with SPY and QQQ, and a model only counts as winning if it beats the stronger of the two. The React frontend displays live P&L, holdings, full trade history, and a leaderboard — built on Bun, Express, and SQLite with TanStack Query for data fetching.
